WORKING FROM HOME WITH YOUR SPOUSE

HOW TO AVOID YOUR WEEKDAYS FEELING LIKE A WEEKEND DURING QUARANTINE.

I currently do not work but my husband does and this outfit made for a good photo. ;) Not to mention now that I am at home full time all I want to do is dress up..I’m over loungewear! haha

When Mike made the decision to work from home, I was a little weary and nervous everyday would feel like a saturday. And I don’t know about your household but Saturdays in our home are lounge all day, eat whatever, play all day kind of days….absolutely no structure. So, I made it a point that we wouldn’t fall into that. We literally thank the Lord every single day that Mike has been able to work from home and getting to enjoy this special time together as a family of four. ♡

  1. Establish a routine–set a schedule with uninterrupted work time, lunch break, family time, etc. & Really honor your schedule so that it becomes a routine.

  2. Wake up 30 minutes to an hour before answering your first email or call. This will literally feel like you just gave yourself a head start to your day.

  3. Take a shower. Get dressed and out of your pjs. ;) This is a must for all four of us…instantly gets us ready for a new day ahead.

  4. Have a designated workspace–preferably one with a door or a space away from your main gathering area.

  5. Work efficiently and effectively so that your work is done in a timely manner making just a little extra time for family. Remember when you work from home efficiency is key, not hourly work.

Helping your spouse work

  1. Prep the night before–"She rises while it is yet night..." Proverbs 31:15 –Even if it’s just running the through the day in your mind. Use pressure cookers and slow cookers to your advantage so that you aren’t in the kitchen all day.

  2. Respect the uninterrupted work time, treat it as if he wasn’t even home.

  3. If you need your spouse, call them as opposed going into the room, this helps any lingering or unnecessary distractions.

  4. Wake up at least an hour before anyone else; use this extra time to pray, read God’s word, take some time for yourself by getting ready and dressed.

  5. Lastly, have dominion over your household, find joy in your daily tasks, smile throughout your day, and show your husband how thankful you are to be together. When you need a boost of encouragement as a mother and wife lean on Proverbs 31, God gave us the perfect example.

Remember God calls us to work as if we are working onto Him, a much higher standard than if our employer was working right beside us. Help your spouse to do his best and give his best. With so much love, Nioby
